I have read the information concerning the hope for homeowners and am not sure that they are going to be able to help me. I currently am two payments behind and will default on my loans in january. I have a 15 year fixed and a second equity line. I am currently unemployed and am looking for work, but nothing so far. I am looking for help in trying to keep my house from foreclosure, but because I am not working and my wife doesn't make a lot the bank says they can't help me with a modification program. I don't know what to do at this point or if there is anything i can do other than let my house forclose and try to find someplace else to live. my credit is now ruined due to the missed payments. any help or suggestions you could provide would be greatly appreciated as I don't have a clue as to what we should do. HELP!!!!!!!!!

Me too! We are so far behind that every place that even hints at helping homeowners that are behind, I've called. they can't help us because we are so far behind. We got 7 mos behind and went into forclosure... they offered us a forbarrance agreement and we opted in on that because we could find no other answer or solution to saving our home. Now that we are in this agreement with the lender, none of the programs I've called about will touch us because we aren't at least 1yr into the agreement and behind. Now this agreement didn't reduce our monthly pymt which is what we need or we will never get back on our feet. Our incomes have been cut in half due to this economical crash. We can't afford the monthly pmt any longer and am now 3 mos behind in out agreement which puts us back into forclosure again.
HELP?? PLEASE??

Sorry to hear that you are in the same boat I am. We lost one whole income and we can't make the payments on either of our mortgages. sounds like there isn't a lot out there for people who are behind because of job lost and not the subprime mortgages. we aren't in foreclosure yet, but will be next month. not sure we will be able to pull out of it and that our house will foreclose. doesn't sound like there is a lot of help out there for people like you and me. thanks for your input.

Ok! This is a load of crap! You folks can't get help because your past due, and I'm being told by Countrywide I don't qualify for help because I'm still current (by the skin on my teeth).
I'm starting to believe this whole relief thang is nothing but a smoke screen. There is no help. That's why folks are just letting the house that's worth less than half what the mortgage is go, and buying another house for less under another someone elses name.
I will need to walk from my home if I don't get some relief soon.

Wow, sounds like you are right and there really isn't anything we can do as no one wants to help us, yet they keep telling us that they really don't want our house. hum.........does sound a bit fishy. good luck to both of you and I hope you can find something or some way to keep your house. we will be in the same boat and have to walk away, but not sure where we will go as now our credit has gone from excellent to not so great. if you hear of anything that might help some of us out let us know. our thoughts are with you and best of luck.

Problem is that all these programs dont provide any help if you dont have a job or other stable income. The best I can think of that may help for people in this situation is to call your states banking dept or housing department and see if there is local help. I know some states are offering local help like this. I really wish the feds would provide much better help, seems everyday I read of some company being bailed out by them and yet they have virtually done nothing for the people...
