Wow interesting, I haven't had that experience at all.
In fact, the first time I called to inquire they told me I didn't meet the 31% income to mortgage ratio and didn't try to see me ANYTHING.
I did call back and then was able to get qualified, they don't ask for anything upfront except the 995.00.
I will keep you posted though on our progress.

Did they tell you that you get your $995 back if they can't get your principal reduced or your loan modified? The manager told me that over the phone, but in the paperwork they sent me it was not stated anywhere. Please keep us posted on your progress, as like I said, you seem to be the only person on this board who has found a lender to do this program for you.

No as I understand it the 995.00 is lost if they can't do anything.
I am under the impression that is the cost of the work they have done.
I know if I don't get the hope loan then the 995.00 will cover if I get a modification of some kind.
I am still waiting for a response from my lender to them but it has only been about a week and a half since they sent the package and I know all of the mortgage companies are swamped with people who want to modify so this may take a while.

Don't spend the money!!!
I am in the denver area and found a non profit company that will help for free. I went to a site called CHAFA which is Colorado housing and finance authority. They had listings of lenders and I was lucky to find an agent of Universal Lending that was willing to help. She sent me to a non profit company here called Brothers Redevelopment. They do morgage counseling and will help with the paper work etc for nothing.

Hi there, just a quick update.
My second mortgage called and said they want to work with me only not the 3rd party company I am using.
My hope people told me to take the offer from my second since it is a good offer and if my first mortgage accepts the hope program package sent to them then the second will be dissolved anyway.
For now my second is offering 3% for 3 years and a lower fixed for the remaining 27 years. NO principal reduction from them.
It will cut my pymt in half for 3years anyway..
I am still waiting for Countrywide my first mortgage to make a decision on my hope package.

Hi I have some updates.
My second mortgage called us direct to offer a modification but no principal write down.
I am having it reviewed because they seem to be pushing us to sign and I think it is because they know with the hope program they will get written off.
I also received a letter from my first lender Countrywide saying they have sent our hope package to their Hope team for further review.
I am very confident that IGS the company I am using will get me the results I need.
